Magic Soap

I believe bathing your beauty brushes often is super important. It will keep your face clear and extend the life of your brushes which are a big investment.  I'm a huge fan of Bobbi Brown Brushes by the way.  I had never found the right soap to use to clean them good until now.  I finally picked up a bottle of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap at Whole Foods out of curiosity.  I see this stuff everywhere but wasn't quite sure what it did?  I loved that it was all natural, all organic and the main ingredients (ethically sourced from the Fair Trade around the World program) were coconut, olive, palm, avocado and tee tree oils.  Definitely worth a shot!

Well, this soap is nothing short of Magic, let me tell you.  It's absolutely amazing!  I purchased the Baby Mild because it is unscented and I have very sensitive skin.  The first thing that came to mind were my makeup brushes.  I've always heard baby shampoo was the best cleaner for brushes anyway. I mixed 1 drop with a little water in the palm of my hand and went to town on my brushes and WOW!

I have never been able to get my brushes this clean and I've had them for years!  You can see from the photo they are super shiny and the bristles are softer than ever which makes for much better makeup application.

Dr. Bronner's Castile Liquid Soaps have been called the "swiss army knife" of cleansing-usable for just about any cleaning task.  The simple, ecologically formulated soaps are gentle enough for washing body, face or hair, but also powerful enough for tasks like dishwashing, mopping, laundry and even pest control.  Different tasks call for different dilutions of the soap.  To get you started with some basic uses, check out Lisa Bronner's cheat sheet (quoted directly from the Dr. Bronner's website).

I seriously cannot WAIT to try all of these!

Madewell

Oh, how I love Madewell (part of the j.crew group if ya didn't know). Their pieces are so casual, classic and cool.  Perfect for weekend wear and strolling through Georgetown.  I was pretty pumped when I scored these Otis Boots on sale at Madewell in Charleston (everything in stores and online is still 20% off).  I live in boots for half the year so this purchase was a no brainer.  Tan boots go with everything!

Pretty impressed with my bf's photography here.  He's got skillz...

This Madewell Dress is like a big sweatshirt so it's the most comfy lil thing ever (and on sale)!  I would wear it out and about or snuggled up on the couch.  Very versatile piece that still has structure so you still look put together.

Completed this Madewell look with my favorite Blue Ray Ban Sunnies and vintage LV cross body (was my mom's back in the day).  This picture makes me happy because there is nothing I love more than some football Saturday's ya'll!

You must try Angry Orchard Hard Cider if you haven't yet.  Tastiest gluten-free beverage to sip on while watching the games. Makes you feel like you're drinking a beer without being so filling.  Love it.

I Heart Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year mainly because of the perfect weather and fashion of course.  It means boots, jackets and scarves which all make me so happy. I was thrilled the temperatures finally dropped in Charleston enough to break out a couple of my faves including these Stuart Weitzman Boots and my Clare Vivier Sandrine Bag which are both my Fall staples.

This Madewell Blazer fits like a glove!  It has a little bit of a longer length which I love plus it's made from twill so it doesn't wrinkle.  I've been traveling with it a lot and it makes the perfect throw on lightweight jacket whether it's for work or play. A great classic piece to add to your wardrobe. This pretty pop of pink lipstick is Beso Beso by Zuzu Luxe and it's all natural packed with coconut and jojoba oils. You can pick it up at Whole Foods.

I adore my heart print Equipment blouse I got from II Brunettes last year.  I cannot tell you how many times I have worn this blouse.  I've paired it with everything from skinny jeans to a black pencil skirt.  You seriously can't go wrong with a silk Equipment blouse.  They are so versatile and fun plus super comfy to wear. Definitely worth the investment. Check out how adorable Blair is in this same blouse on Atlantic-Pacific.

Another must have classic piece to add to your wardrobe is the J.Crew Pixie Pant-ON SALE!  I am such a fan.  They are like a black stretchy legging that zip up the back with seams to give them more structure which make them more flattering.  I have been wearing them constantly for work and just casually with a t-shirt and flats.  Favorite pair of pants I have ever purchased! I went with the short length because the regular was so long and I wanted them to hit at my ankle. I'm 5'6" so these run really long just fyi.

I went to such a fun Charleston Blogger event at Moon and Lola the other night and purchased this Spike Necklace (available in stores only).  It's a great piece to layer over blouses or with other necklaces.  All the girls at this adorable shop said they own this necklace and it's their staple piece.  I am loving mine!

Pretty Pasta

So I have a little bit of a pasta addiction.  I seriously crave it several nights a week which is not good when I'm doing my best to stay gluten and dairy free.  I choose to eat this way because it agrees with by body more internally and externally.  I just look and feel so much better when I stick to it.

The great news is there are so many traditional pasta alternatives like yummy rice noodles-yay!  Love me some rice noodles.  They come in all shapes and sizes but I went with the traditional spaghetti style for this dish.

I cooked the pasta according to the package instructions while I sautéed some cut up green, yellow and red bell peppers in minced garlic and olive oil.

After I strained the noodles,  I mixed everything together and added some crushed red pepper ( I always like to spice it up a bit). This dish is so simple and satisfies those pasta cravings while remaining gluten and dairy free.  Winner Winner..Pasta Dinner!

I discovered this amazing Cappello's Gnocchi made from almond flour in the frozen food section of Earthfare and literally had a mini freakout sesh.  This is my first time seeing gluten free gnocchi and knowing my pasta addiction, you can understand my excitement.

I cooked the gnocchi according to the package instructions while I heated up some delish Dave's Gourmet Red Heirloom Pasta Sauce.  This stuff tastes so homemade-big chunks of tomatoes in it which is my fave.  I mixed the two together and thew a bunch of basil on top because fresh basil is just the bomb.  This dish was so delish ya'll and again it followed my gluten and dairy free diet. Saweet!

A glass of vino is always a necessary accompaniment to my pretty pasta and lately I've been enjoying a little Syrah.

This La Granja Syrah is only $7 bucks at Trader Joes and is just juicy and easy drinkin. The rooster laying the golden egg is what caught my eye of course.

Black and White

I'm all about some black and white these days.  I like my b&w combo mixed with a little bit of edge kinda like this beautiful home on Bull Street.  It's classic yet edgy and one of my absolute favorite homes in downtown Charleston.  The original aged stone mixed with the "charleston blue" door and gas lanterns is just perfection.

These Rag&Bone Jeans are probably my favorite jean purchase ever.  For reals ya'll. I had heard once that Rag&Bone skinny jeans will change your life and now I'm a believer.  The comfort of these jeans is on a whole other level. They are super soft with just the right amount of stretch and come up a little bit higher in the back which is so necessary these days.  I went with the knee tears to keep it casual and on trend but these babies come in lots of colors and styles.  Definitely an investment piece but well worth every penny.  They are jeans.  You wear them constantly.  No brainer.

I'm totally digging the necklace over the shirt, long strap bag and pointy toe shoes look.  This is a look we can thank lots of brilliant bloggers out there for making so popular lately.  I gain so much style inspiration from my fellow bloggers because it's real people, real clothes and more about functionality and less about formality.  This just works.

This Billy Reid White Silk Blouse has been so versatile and well worth the splurge.  It pairs well with just about everything.

All smiles because this look makes me oh so happy.  No belt necessary.  Even better.

Troubadour

I love everything about this look.  The top and skirt were made by local Charleston designer Lindsey Carter of Troubadour. Her work has been featured in Southern Living and is sold at Neiman Marcus stores.  She has the most lovely showroom here in Charleston.  It's such a treat just to go there and try on pretty things.

These shoes were made for walking..and they are by Joe's Jeans. I found these for a steal at Marshall's.  Love it when that happens.  You rarely see me in stilettos anymore but these are just the right height and super comfortable.  I'm wearing them all the time.

Both of these Troubadour pieces are so versatile and 50% OFF.  I just wore the top last weekend with skinny jeans and flats and I've worn the skirt with a black tank and sandals for a more casual look.

This bag ya'll. I can't even. The Clare Vivier Sandrine. I probably get a compliment a day on it. It's got a wider opening which gives you easy access and can fit everything. I absolutely adore mine and am thinking about ordering another color I use it so much.  Call the stores if sold out online. I was just in NYC and of course checked out the amazing CV boutique in Soho and they had several Sandrines.

Loving this Pink sheer lipstick I piked up at Whole Foods.  It's 100% natural and Beso Beso by ZuZu Luxe.

Aren't these sunnies the coolest?  My bro in law, who just so happens to be up on all the latest trends in Europe,  gifted these Le Specs glasses to my sister and I for Christmas.  I feel oh so "euro" when I wear them and love the retro vibe. Super Sweet Sunnies under $70?  Yes please.

Staple black sunburst earrings by House of Harlow and only $30.  No brainer.

My photographer Gina Cordoba is the best and took all of these beautiful pictures.
