Okay ladies, if you have not had a Shellac manicure you are missing out on the best beauty invention of the year!! Yes, it is that amazing and let me tell you why...Shellac combines acrylic with the solvents in classic nail polish to form a liquid that brushes on in thin layers but sets to a hard, shiny finish. The process involves a base coat, two coats of color, and a top coat. In between each coat, you slip your hand under a UV lamp for 2 minutes. The best part is after you are finished, you can literally stick your hand in your purse, pull out your credit card, and grab your keys without worrying that you will mess them up because you can't!! You get two to four weeks (yes, I can stretch it that long) of perfect nails with no chipping. It's gonna cost you $10 more than a regular manicure at most salons but you will learn very quickly, it is so worth it. So what's the catch, right? Well, it's a little tricky to remove. You must soak your nails in acetone for at least five minutes to get the polish off. But really, who cares? I mean, you had perfect chip free nails for 3 weeks and it cost you $35, enough said! Shellac is available in 24 chip-resistant shades with Romantique being my personal favorite (an OPI Bubble Bath look alike). I've become so obsessed with Shellac, I'm considering purchasing the colors and the UV machine from Amazon so I can do them from home to save on those costly and timely trips to the salon. There are many youtube videos with demonstrations on how to execute these manicures on your own. So find a Shellac Salon near you or be brave and order the goods but get ready to be obsessed with your new perfect nails!
